Cafes
Cafe G is a quality, laid back but refined cafe right in the centre of Copenhagen, in the beautiful and picturesque pedestrian square of Grabrodretorv.
The philosophy behind Cafe G is to make a modern cafe with a strong sense of atmosphere that suits you whether it's early in the morning or late at night. Go to Cafe G for an early breakfast meeting, lunch with your friends, dinner with co-workers, even brunch with kids or just for drinks on weekend evenings.
The owner of Cafe G has plenty of experience, with sister cafes Dirk Keller in Frederiksberg and Cafe Carlton on Halmtorvet. The area of Grabrodretorv is rich with history. It was originally a monastery, built in the 13th century. The monastery closed in scandal as the monks were revealed to have a sensuous double life that they lived in tunnels under the monastery.
The cellar of the cafe itself was at the centre of another scandal as a government spying post was discovered there in the 60s.
Nowadays you can sit and enjoy the surroundings with a coffee and a snack. Make sure to get a photo of the sculpture by Soren Georg Jensen, son of the famous Danish silversmith Georg Jensen.
From the lunch menu, try the huge brunch at DKK 89 which includes scrambled eggs and bacon as well as muesli, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, ham, smoked salmon, pancakes, and more.
In the evening try a generous Chicken and Cheeseburger for DKK 94, or delicious tenderloin beef pasta for DKK 109.
