Fiat, located by the majestical Kongens Nytorv square, is one of Copenhagen's best regarded Italian restaurants. It serves simple, straightforward Italian food cooked to a very high degree.
They offer lunch and dinner a la carte, as well as a set menu and take away dishes. At lunch, Fiat offers antipasti, pasta, pizza, cheese, and desserts. Try the grilled tuna salad for DKK 130, or a beautiful Italian standard bruschetta, Fiat-style for DKK 95. All the usual pastas are offered but each is made to a high standard by the chefs at Fiat. The lobster, chili, garlic and mascarpone tagliatelle is sumptuous and costs DKK 165.
The pizzas are worth a try, too: from the traditional mushroom and mozzarella to the marinated lamb and even truffle-topped pizza. Everything except the last varies between DKK 120 and DKK 130.For desert, how about the white chocolate pannacotta with pickled apricots for DKK 75.
In the evenings, the menu follows a similar format but with a much wider range. Rabbit fillet with pancetta, pumpkin, celeriac, walnuts and Marsala will set you back DKK 235, but then it's not every day you eat perfectly cooked rabbit.
The set menus are a good way of experiencing the best food Fiat has to offer. They come in three, four and five-course varieties at DKK 375, 415 and 465 respectively. The wine list is populated almost exclusively by classy Italian vintages.
For bright, lively and tasty Italian dining in Copenhagen, you can't go wrong with Fiat. After dinner it´s ideal to take a walk down to Nyhavn (New harbor) for after dinner drinks under the star lit sky of Copenhagen.
