Raw and small is not the name of the latest Tarantino movie, but a part of the menu at the new Kødbyens Fiskebar situated in the old meatpacking district.
Grab a seat at the Raw bar and order dishes like 3 Oysters from Normandy, Scallops with cucumber, dill and anise oil and Trout tartar with spelt seeds, herbs, mustards and capers for 75 DKK each. The small portions and good prices give you a great opportunity to taste different kinds of seafood. Or, take a seat around a 1000-liters aquarium, where you can actually seek eye contact with your food before dinner. That might be something needed to get used to for the Danish but it is not unusual in other countries.
The regular menu at the Kødbyens Fiskebar varies daily, depending on the catch of the day and the different seasons, but the aim is to serve great seafood to affordable prices, like the family concept on Sundays, presenting a menu created to suite the whole family with prices like 250 DKK for 3 dishes. There is actually one meat dish to be found on the menu, and a vegetarian alternative.
“Kødbyens Fiskebar” translates to “Meatpacking Districts Fish Bar” and that is the best way to describe the place, it is a lively restaurant with bar feeling; easy and unpretentious, despite the hip factor.
Don’t miss the outside terrace with afternoon and evening sunset.
If you enter the meatpacking district from Skelbækgade, there is 2 hours free parking after 6 pm.
