In central Copenhagen, on Store Kongensgade, you'll find Madklubben, serving Scandinavian dishes of a very high quality and at an affordable price. Their philosophy is to put good food on your plate and have you sit in a comfortable environment. There are no long stories behind the food or intimate details about the growing conditions of the wines. They just taste good.

You won't be babysat by a waiter, meaning you get to pour your own wine and appreciate the ingredients without a long explanation by the waiter. This way, the prices are kept down. That's not to say people are unfriendly, but the diner is considered the most active participant in the meal. In fact, the floor staff is selected for their bubbly and likeable personalities rather than their dry knowledge of wines or rare cheeses. If you do have questions, you can ask, and the answer will probably be found for you... and told to you with a smile.

Madklubben also encourages you to speak up if anything at all is not to your satisfaction; they are very eager to please. The same goes for if you have any allergies or food intolerances, just let them know.

A lot of the philosophy if Madklubben is to be down to earth; the dishes use fine ingredients where the quality can shine through. There is no pomposity; the chefs just want guests to enjoy their time with them.

Madklubben is located in a cozy old converted barn that provides a warm framework for whatever kind of get together you have planned, whether it's a romantic night for two, a business get together, or a large party. If you are visiting with over nine guests then a set menu can be provided.
