Meyers Deli - Frederiksberg
Copenhagen
Cafes
Owned and operated by the entrepreneur Claus Meyer, Meyer's deli is a concept inspired by the delis and diners of London and New York. In 2005, Copenhagen was a 'deli wilderness'-until Meyer's Deli came along and opened their first branch in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen.
Nowadays, Meyer's deli is a modern Scandinavian cafe, deli and grocery store offering premium, organic, slow-food inspired fare from around the world, in particular, home grown Scandinavian specialties. The drive behind Meyer's Deli really is to provide food that has been lovingly prepared from well-managed and responsible sources.
The coffee shop offers lattes, espressos, ristrottos etc. made from beans roasted by Meyer's Deli's sister company Estate Coffee in Copenhagen. Bagged tea and coffee is also available to take away. Food from the cafeteria menu that changes five times a year. The deli part provides ready to eat meals to take away, from sandwiches to soups and salads. There are also dishes you can take home and reheat: casseroles, stews, etc.
Look out for the heart symbol on dishes meaning that they have been specifically designed to be low in fat and good for the heart.
The groceries on offer at Meyer's Deli are fun and exclusive, from biodynamic herbs to quality tinned apples and pears as well as luxury chocolates from Valrhona. There is an amazing array of jams, pesto’s, chutneys, relishes and pates, as well as some locally-brewed alcohol.
Lastly, organic, fresh bread is baked daily in the deli itself. Get there early in the morning for the first batch of the day!
