Spanish
The restaurant opened in January 2009 and “Restaurant Es”, situated 6 km north of Copenhagen, is well worth a visit if you like modern Spanish gourmet cuisine and are up for a culinary experience.
The ambience is simple, yet elegant; with light wood, colorful, abstract art made by Tobias Ginsborg, huge windows, an open kitchen where you can catch a glimpse on the cooks preparing your meal, and with a beautiful view over the sea and Øresund.
“Restaurant Es” is run by a Danish/Spanish couple and has seats for 70 guests.
It is possible to have dinner outside on the terrace, when the weather permits.
Head Chef Christian Ørsnes, with previous experience from “The Paul” in Copenhagen and the famous and Michelin awarded restaurant “Arzak” in San Sebastian, has put together a well combined menu of traditional Spanish dishes with a new, creative twist: Marinated dorada with avocado, Sepia pica pica, Lobster with melon and pata negra and Lamb with chickpeas. All dishes on the menu can be ordered in tapas (smaller portions) or raciones (like small main courses). You’ll find some excellent wines on the wine list, like Brunello Montalcino Olivetto Riserva 2001 and Amarone Valpolicella Zononi 2003. There are also plenty of Spanish wines to choose from.
For some entertainment after dinner, continue over to the Italian restaurant “Bottega”, which often offers live music on the weekends.
