Restaurationen
Copenhagen
Danish
Lisbeth & Bo Jacobsen have been running the gourmet restaurant Restaurationen since 1991, serving traditional Danish cuisine with a French twist.
The place oozes elegance and quality with its mahogany interior, damask table cloths, royal china and silver cutlery, and paintings from famous Danish artists are hanging on the walls. It is a spacious restaurant and the management has made a point of not putting the table to close to each other. The service is very attentive and the atmosphere feels personal and friendly.
There is no a la carte menu; Restaurationen serves one fixed menu with 5 courses using organic Danish products which are fresh and available for the current season. The menu changes every week. It is also possible to order one exclusive course of the day with a glass of wine for 295 DKK.
Restaurationen is well known for its impressive wine list presenting 1500 quality wines and you could order a wine menu to go with the food, for 725 DKK.
The restaurant accepts all major credit cards.
“R vinbar” next to the restaurant is another of the Jacobson couple’s creations and the bar is the perfect stop for a drink before your dinner at Restaurationen.
It is a real wine bar and not a place for beer or cocktails; serving 30 different wines which can be ordered per glass, and small appetizers of seafood, foie-gras terrine and cheese.
There is an informal wine tasting every Thursday 8-9 pm, tasting 3 wines for 100 DKK and it is possible to buy bottles of the wine to bring home with you, to the same price you normally would pay in the shops.
