Fashion stores
Oleana is Norwegian fashion collective creating beautiful and natural clothing that is ethically and environmentally conscious. Their Copenhagen outlet is located in central Copenhagen, just a short walk from Nyhavn harbor and Kongens Nytorv.
Oleana started in 1992, and their philosophy was to provide jobs in the textile industry to local people, to use home-grown talent and provide a viable alternative to cheaply made mass-produced clothing.
To compete with the mass market, Oleana uses high levels of design, quality and flexibility that other textile makers are unable to offer.
Many of Oleana's designs take their inspiration from traditional Norwegian folk costumes. They still manage to be modern, though, and offer knitted garments, coats, skirts, belts and wrist-warmers, as well as blankets.
The design team is led by Solvelg Hisdal, a highly decorated graphic designer, artist and fashion designer. She has won the Award for Design Excellence from the Norwegian Design Council a total of six times, and in 2000 was awarded the highly respected Jacob Prize--Norway's highest award in design, craft and architecture.
