Beaches and Harbour Baths
Located almost half way between the city center and Kastrup airport is Amager Beach. This 4,6 km long bathing beach is split into two parts, one on the mainland and another on an island that is connected to land via bridge.
Amager Beach is a perfect get away from the sometimes busy city and a great place to relax with a book, sunbath, swim or play with the kids. There are areas that are perfect for kids with shallow water as well as designated areas for swimmers and rowers.
Amager Beach is very popular with the locals who often spend entire days there with friends and family. The area is also a great place for a bicycle trip as there are many bike paths along the beach. Before you head back you can indulge yourself with a tasty ice-cream from one of the local vendors in the beach area.
If you go to the island (the other part of the beach) you´ll encounter more natural beaches as this area has not been designed like the beach on the mainland. The Island is also a home to a wonderful marina on the southern side where small boats often more for the day.
Amager beach is more than just a beach as it is surrounded by park that are ideal for all kinds of recreational activities as well as barbequing or a nice nap under the shade of a tree – the choice is yours.
Hot to get to Amager Beach:
It will only take you 7 minutes to travel to Amager beach with the Metro. If you are traveling directly from the airport, the Metro will get you there in 3 minutes. The Beach is situated along Amager Strandvej in the Amager district of Copenhagen. There three Metro stations in the vincinity of Amager Beach: Øresund, Amager Strand or Femøren, from them it will only be 5-7 minutes walk to the beach. You can also very easily get there by bike from the center of the city.
