Christiansborg Palace
Copenhagen
Historical buildings
The Danish Government and Parliament, the Supreme Court and the Foreign Ministry are all housed in the Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, as well as the Royal Reception Rooms and the Queen’s Library, which are open to the public when not in use by the Queen. A large area of the palace belongs to the Royal Family and the Danish Queen Margrethe is holding many of her functions here.
It is the third Christiansborg Palace, situated on the small island Slotsholmen in the harbor of Copenhagen. The baroque palace was constructed by the famous architect Thorvald Jørgensen; it took 17 years to build and was finished in 1928.
The impressive tower is with its 106 meters the highest in the city.
